I think I’m basically going to keep myself obsessed with bands on a constant basis
My obsession for everything I was listening to the other day came to a close. I had a day of pretty hefty dissociation after a family-induced meltdown, and no music felt right.
I managed to work out indie rock is the genre I really identify with. For a long time I’ve avoided it, because even the word indie sounds desperately hipster. I really, really need to stop worrying how my music will seem to other people.
I’m pretty sure I’m becoming obsessed with Death Cab For Cutie already. I started with Transatlanticism and moved on to Narrow Stairs. I listened to these albums in order on repeat, and then on shuffle to mix up the playing order.
Now I’m listening to Plans and will probably get more albums when I get bored of these.
When I get bored of them as an artist, I’ll consciously find my obsession a new home.
